Jan has made a driver for 3DFX Voodoo cards. It is a port of the tdfx framebuffer driver.
See his webpage here:
http://home.in.tum.de/~hauffa/
Should-be-supported:
- Voodoo Banshee
- Voodoo 3
- Voodoo 4 + 5
Unsupported:
- Voodoo 1 -- this card is a 3D accelerator only. The only way to support 2D display would be via 3D acceleration.
- Voodoo Rush -- these are cards with a 3DFX chip for [Glide 3D]?, but 3rd party chips for 2D:
- with Alliance Semiconductor AT3D
- with Alliance Semiconductor AT25
- with Macronix MX86251
- with Cirrus Logic 5646 ?
- Voodoo 2 -- Voodoo 2s had no official support for 2D, but they did have the hardware support for 2D display (or at least many of them did) but it was disabled in the drivers because the 2D functions lacked 32-bit bpp, and had trivial drawing issues. The Voodoo 2 probably has an early version of the 2D core found in the Banshee, so some experimentation would be worth it. The ICS Gendac 5342-3 9838/UE820580 DAC appears to be used on this card for what it's worth.
