The MGA video driver was one of the earliest of the AtheOS system, dating back to around 1999/2000.

Supported:

Other cards probably work too, but need confirmation.

Problematic:

There are multiple chipset revisions (three I believe), different cards with 2, 4 and 8mb of ram, and different DAC types (the serial number reflects the clock frequency - Matrox Millenniums range from 175MHz to 220 or 250?).

This post here is interesting.

List below the specifications written on the PCB of cards that are & are not working, along with a description of the problem if there is one, and we'll see if there's a trend:

Not working:
Revision A card with 2mb of vram
IS-Storm R2 (revision 2) chipset
TVP3029-220pce DAC
Gives fixed vertical and horizontal green lines. There is a 'mirror' effect where everything is horizontally shown twice, with a distance apart of about 30pixels.

Working:
List specs here

Unsupported:

These cards should work in VESA mode from Syllable 0.5.5.

Resources:

SCS: a Force-VESA option would be really useful for those with problematic cards like the MGAM1 and TNT2.
